The Thomas Beale Cipher

Very impressive use of rotoscoping helps create the highly original style of this great short. In a world where so much emphasis is put on 3D, the “flatness” of the visuals in this animated short is…refreshing! Director Andrew S. Allen did not even use shadows to simulate relief or depth perception. Instead, his creative use of contrasting textures and his smart choice of colours separate the various silhouettes and gives the impression of changes in light, which successfully sets the mood of the various scenes. An awesome short to watch full screen in HD.
